Hi,
New to Web Polygraph. It looks like exactly what I need to determine
if I'm accomplishing what I set out, or if as someone in another group
pointed out, that I was "Don 'hosed' Quixote de la Mancha".. Tilting at
windmills and my middle name is hosed.
We currently have a user end site fed by satellite. It is of course
slow. When you web surf, they tell you to use their modem as a proxy to
speed it up. I'm trying to see if I can speed it up even more using other
equipment.
I have a Soekris server running FreeBSD 5.5. I've installed
OpenVPN to tunnel back to the main datacenter, and Squid to proxy
and cache. To be able to tell if my work is producing any results, I've
tested a direct connection from my laptop to the datacenter server,
from my laptop through the satellite modem proxy to the datacenter, and
through Squid. Your program has been fantastic for controlling the testing!
If anyone has any suggestions on any part of it, I'd love to
hear offline.
My initial benchmarks are showing some seriously weird results,
so I'm trying to see if I can get things to be constant first on the
"direct" test before I go farther.
But just wanted to introduce myself to the list and put out
there what/why, and if there are any suggestions I'm quite open!
Thanks again, Tuc
