Thank you for the patch! This code is already in CVS and will be included
in the next major release.
I am not sure whether it is a good idea to add this change to 2.8 branch
because it will break installations that are still using gnuplot 3.x --
some syntax changes in gnuplot 4.x are not backwards compatible, and I do
not know of a simple way to support both versions of gnuplot.
