Newbie credentials question

Hi all,

I've read http://www.web-polygraph.org/docs/userman/auth.html many times,
but I cannot see how to map the user:pass combinations below:

yxxxx1:yyyyy1
yxxxx2:yyyyy2
...
yxxxx999:yyyyy999

credentials = "yxxxx[1-998]:yyyyy[1-998]";

Will give me yxxxx1:yyyyy1, yxxxx1:yyyyy2, yxxxx1:yyyyy3

Pointers please.
