Re: PolyMix-4 on linux machine

Hi Mihalis,

There isn't much to tell. I started with a Red Hat system tuned for
Squid and high network loads (this is documented pretty well on the web
already--this isn't necessary to get a 'working' polygraph, only to get
one that is useful for generating very high loads), and installed
Polygraph from a tarball. I followed all of the instructions from TMF
for running polymix-4, all of which worked fine except for the automated
route configuration script.

There were no problems with routes--just the automated script didn't
work "out of the box". It wasn't anything serious, I just spent a
little time figuring out what the provided script was doing and wrote up
a 4 or 5 line script to duplicate it for my specific environment
(unfortunately, I can't find that script now--but it just foreach'ed
through a bunch of IP numbers and and setup routes as Polygraph expected
them to be configured). I think this problem was due to the route maker
script using a somewhat different syntax than the Linux route
command--you could probably fix the provided script for Linux almost as
easily as writing a new script.

DNS was setup "out of the box" using the provided tool for generating a
configuration file. No changes were necessary on the nameserver, except
to install the file that was generated.
