RE: cache simulation

I've done this by writing a program to read in an HTTP request log and feed
the requests to the caching algorithm I'm testing. If you look hard enough
you can find a number of large logs on th web to use in testing.

Subject: cache simulation

Hello,

Does any one know if any work has been done considering simulating caches
and proxies? What I would like is a general framework in which I can plug a
caching algorithm and see how well it behaves. This is possible by
implementing the proxy/cache and testing it with a program such as
Polygraph, however I'm looking for a more general approach that does not
require me to implement every little detail. I'm looking for
implementations/papers/anything concerning this matter.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Peter
