Offered hit ratio is configurable via PGL. To be precise, offered
recurrence ratio is configurable via robot's "recurrence" field. The hit
ratio is a combination of recurrence ratio, content cachability, and
presence of special messages (e.g., IMS requests).
In general, no offered recurrence ratio is too much or too low since
there is no "correct" ratio. Even different standard workloads have
different recurrence ratios, ranging from 0% to 95%.
If you are talking about standard PolyMix-3 workload, then offered hit
ratio should be around 57.9%. See cache-off reports for exact figures
(all but two entries report ratios within the 57.77% - 57.95% range).
If you PolyMix-3 report shows 68% offered hit ratio, something went
wrong. I would be happy to take a look if you send me (off list) a URL
or a gzipped tar file with the report index.html and .png graphs.
