In general, most steps are the same for all platforms. However, some
platforms do not support certain features of the test, or we
(documentation writers) simply do not know how to emulate those
features in a specific environment. Fortunately, 99% of
platform-specific features are external to Polygraph itself.
For example, we use FreeBSD's DummyNet feature to simulate WAN packet
delays and loss. MS Windows does not have DummyNet. There might be
some packages that do the same thing for Windows, but we are not
familiar with them.
Your options depend on what you are trying to achieve. For example, to
produce a PolyMix-3 result that matches official TMF results, you
would need to use FreeBSD and follow the HOWTO document:
http://www.measurement-factory.com/docs/PolyMix-3/
On the other hand, if you must use Windows, you would have to take
shortcuts. You can still try to follow the same instructions, but you
would have to get creative...
Finally, please keep in mind that report generating features of
Polygraph depend on Perl and Gnuplot. While both packages are
available on Windows, we are not familiar with their installation and
configuration in that environment. Hopefully, there are Windows fans
on the list that can help you there. If not, you will be on your own.
Good luck,
Alex.
