Polygraph uses HTTP/1.0 in the request/response lines but implements
many (most) important features of HTTP/1.1 such as persistent
connections and cache-control directives. Those features have been
supported for a long time now. AFAIK, the current implementation
yields pretty much the same traffic (performance-wise) as an compliant
HTTP/1.1 implementation would.

Polygraph agents do not advertise themselves as HTTP/1.1 because they
do not support chunk encoding. If you are interested in adding that
feature, let us know.
