You have several options:
1) download version 2.5.4 and patch it to compile on RH7.0

2) use FreeBSD instead of Linux

3) if you must use version 2.2.9 on Linux, send complete output of:
make distclean
./configure
make
make all
to polygraph-bugs alias so we can try to fix the problems.
I recommend the first option. If you have further installation or
compilation problems, please report them to polygraph-bugs alias.
