Hi Brent,

The information you provide is insufficient to offer any insight
into the problems you are facing (except for error message descriptions,
see below). However, I can recommend the following plan that may help
you to get some progress.

        0) Use FreeBSD instead of Solaris, if you can. Polygraph will
probably work on Solaris, but you will need to work around a
couple of compatibility problems. See this list archive for
Solaris-related complaints. This step is optional, of course.

        1) Use Polygraph 2.2.9
           http://polygraph.ircache.net/sources/

        2) Start with simple.pg workload (a ``hello-world'' test)
           http://polygraph.ircache.net/UserManual/simple.html

           Try these configurations, in order
                - no-proxy (no --proxy option, no WCCP)
                - explicit proxying (--proxy option)
                - TCP hijacking (no --proxy option, WCCP)
This order helps you to isolate a Poly problem from
           WCCP and other "external" problems.

        3) When simple.pg is working (all configurations),
           start playing with PolyMix-2
           http://polygraph.ircache.net/Workloads/
           http://bakeoff.ircache.net/N02/howto.txt

You may want to try the same configurations as before, in
           the same order.

Polygraph run-time messages, including errors, are documented at
        http://polygraph.ircache.net/doc/messages.html
Note that documentation covers 2.2.9 version and may not apply to
the ancient version you are running now.

If the above documentation is not sufficient, please do not hesitate to
ask specific questions!

Good luck,

Alex.

P.S. You may also want to seek advice from the Lucent group that brought
a couple of caches to the second bake-off. They have first-hand
     experience with Polygraph and PolyMix-2.
