Jeff,

As was discussed at the L4+ meeting in Boulder [1], there are
several steps to be taken before a ready-to-use L4-specific benchmark
will be available. You may want to contact your partners at Cabletron
that have first-hand knowledge about the meeting and related
discussions.

Said that, nothing prevents you from using Polygraph today to test your
products (and some switching vendors have already been exposed to this
kind of tests). If you want to balance proxies, all you need is a few
robust caches (the development of an independent Polygraph proxy is one
of the steps required for the official L4 benchmark release). I suggest
that you use PolyMix-2 workload as it will become the basis for future
L4 tests.

Polygraph software and workloads are free. You may want to consider
donating money and equipment to our project to make sure official L4+
benchmark is released on time.

Alex.
